Three HKA experts recognized in 2024 IAM Patent 1000

Three partners at HKA, a risk and disputes consulting firm, were recognized in the 2024 edition of the IAM Patent 1000 list.

Now in its 11th year, the IAM Patent 1000 identifies outstanding firms and individuals in the area of patent law. IAM – a news and business intelligence platform for intellectual property (IP) – conducted extensive qualitative research to determine the list, including interviews with experts and written submissions from firms.

HKA’s experts on the 2024 list:

Thomas Britven (Houston) has over 30 years of experience as an economic consultant. He has completed hundreds of complex financial damages claims analyses across IP, breach of contract, business interruption, unfair competition, forensic accounting, and business valuation disputes.

John Hansen (San Francisco) has over 30 years of experience advising on economic, accounting, and damages matters. He has analyzed claims for lost profits, price erosion, reasonable royalties, unjust enrichment, increased costs and diminution of asset and business value in matters relating to IP infringement, breach of contract, class action, antitrust, and unfair competition.

Paul Meyer (San Francisco) has over 40 years of experience consulting on financial, accounting, valuation and damages matters. He has completed more than 500 engagements – including numerous valuations of proprietary properties, systems, and platforms in software, cloud, video gaming, e-commerce, and AI.

“We are thrilled to see the recognition our experts have received in this year’s IAM Patent 1000. Sincere gratitude firstly to all the work our talented experts and their teams consistently deliver – it is a fantastic testament to our team’s extensive expertise in the Intellectual Property field and the exceptional service they provide to our clients,”

said Renny Borhan, CEO of HKA.

HKA’s IP practice supports clients with expert witness testimony, valuation of intangible assets, and quantification of damages for lost profits and reasonable royalties.
