Marsh subsidiary Dovetail Insurance has partnered with insurance technology services firm Duck Creek. The partnership aims to support Dovetail Insurance scale its technology platform, focused on supporting independent insurance agents service the SME sector in the US.

Marsh, the insurance advisory arm of Marsh & McLennan Companies, acquired South Carolina-based Dovetail Insurance in 2015. The addition netted the firm with a cloud-based platform through which the firm has been better able to service independent insurance agents with online quotes from multiple insurance providers. The platform, which is predominantly focused on the SME market in the US, is led by former IBM Partern, Rich Drab.

The consulting firm recently announced that it has entered into partnership with Duck Creek, a Missouri-based technology service provider. Duck Creek is specialised in a range of technology services to the insurance industry. The partnership will see the technology firm provide management and development to the Dovetail platform and its proprietary technology. Through the partnership, Dovetail aims to access the expertise to allow its platform to scale more rapidly as demand for its services increases.

Remarking on the partnership, Drab says, “Duck Creek’s sophisticated technology will enhance the speed and quality of our service delivery. We believe that this strategic relationship is a win-win for carriers, agents and their clients.”

Remarking on the partnership, Curt Stevenson, Chief Digital Officer of Duck Creek Technologies, says, “Working with Marsh and Dovetail on this initiative brings together many of the aspects that make Duck Creek unique — a deep understanding of the P&C marketplace and its potential for innovation; modern, highly configurable software that is inherently built for change; and the ability to get carriers and their partners to the cloud quickly and in a model that best supports their strategy. We’re also thrilled to help advance a technology platform that better meets the needs of the burgeoning small commercial marketplace.”
