A commercial energy consultancy in the North East has revealed plans to create 200 jobs over the coming two years after investing a seven-figure sum in new offices.

Direct Business Solutions has taken almost 9,500 sq ft at the Franklin House development on Rainton Bridge Business Park near Houghton-le-Spring.

It also has an option to take a further two floors of the buildings, spanning 19,000 sq ft, in the coming years.

Direct Business Solutions is currently based at Doxford International Business Park in Sunderland but expects to move by September.

The company was founded two years ago by directors Simon Moslemi and Chris Sloanes. It now has a 100-strong team and is turning over £1m per month.

Turnover is expected to climbed to a record £15m in its current financial year and Direct Business Solutions will employ "at least" 300 staff by 2021.

As part of its recruitment plans, up to 150 field sales positions will be created over the next three years.

Moslemi said: "We’ve made great strides in a very short period of time, but we’re still just getting started and are now putting the infrastructure in place that will help us achieve our ambitions over the long term.

"We already make substantial investments in recruiting, training and retaining high-calibre staff to ensure they’re properly equipped to give our customers the service that they need, and part of this continuing process is ensuring we give them the right sort of working environment."

Chris Anderson, partner in the commercial property team at Hay & Kilner Law Firm in Newcastle, advised Direct Business Solutions.

He added: "Direct Business Solutions is growing extremely quickly and needed to find the right kind of high-quality space that would support its future expansion plans.

"It’s been a pleasure to work with such an ambitious management team on this exciting project and we’re looking forward to working with the DBS team as they grow and create even more jobs in their new home."
