Global accounting and consulting giant EY has appointed a new leader for its Japanese organisation.

24-year company veteran Mori Kida currently is the Chief Operating Officer of EY Japan, and a member of the firm’s Asia-Pacific Area Operating Executive. He now steps into the shoes of Koichi Tsuji, who will pass on the baton to his successor on July 1st, 2021.

Tsuji has been Regional Managing Partner for Japan since the summer of 2019, having previously served as Country Managing Partner for Japan the three years previous. “Tsuji has been an outstanding leader and leaves the businesses in a strong and stable position. We wish him well as he moves to the next phase of his career,” said Patrick Winter, EY’s Managing Partner for Asia-Pacific.

“I have no doubt that Mori will lead our team in Japan from strength to strength,” he added.

Kida joined EY in 1996 and became an Audit partner in 2007 in the US. Since then, he has worked with EY teams in multiple locations, including San Francisco, London, New York, and most recently, his hometown of Tokyo. According to Tsuji, Kida has played “a crucial and ongoing role in the transformation and growth of EY Japan.”
