Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced the appointment of Ashish Bansal as a Managing Director and Co-leader of its India Global Transaction Advisory Group (TAG) practice, alongside Mumbai-based, Managing Director, Bhavik Hathi. Mr. Bansal’s joining builds on recent Global TAG expansions in Asia, alongside senior leader hires in Australia and China, and represents a key growth milestone for the practice both in India and globally.

Paul Aversano, Managing Director and Global Practice Leader of A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group, commented, “In another strategic move, we have augmented our capabilities geographically and extended our global network of boots-on-the-ground transaction professionals for helping private equity (PE) and corporate clients become successful investors. Ashish’s appointment demonstrates Global TAG’s continued commitment to elevating capabilities in India in anticipation of growing market demand and of doubling our business over the next two years.”

Leveraging close to 20 years of experience in multiple transactions, Mr. Bansal specializes in financial due diligence across sectors such as healthcare, life sciences, auto components, diversified industrials, consumer, and retail. Working in alignment with commercial, operational and environmental, social and governance (ESG) diligence, he advises PE funds and corporate buyers on buy- and sell-side concerns pertaining to domestic and cross-border transactions.

Mr. Hathi and Mr. Bansal noted the importance of their shared approach and results-driven mindset. They said, “With the recognition of India as the fastest growing large economy, we see significant transaction advisory opportunities for private equity and corporate clients. As Co-leaders, we will leverage A&M’s trusted advisor position to continue Global TAG’s strategic growth plan in India. We see an increased focus by investors on evaluation of value creation opportunities in addition to deal risks. A&M’s operator mindset and integrated delivery approach is better placed to help clients maximize value and drive change.”

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Bansal spent close to two decades at KPMG India’s Deal Advisory practice. In that role he specialized in transaction services, and most recently served as a Partner.

Vikram Utamsingh, Country Leader and Managing Director for Alvarez & Marsal India, said, “The PE market in India is currently outperforming all of Asia, and was the only country in the region that returned more PE distributions in 2023 than in 2022. Ashish, together with Bhavik, strengthens our ability to help clients capitalize on these market conditions.”

Mr. Bansal earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Delhi University. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
