Roland Berger, a Munich-headquartered management consulting firm, has promoted Stephan Keese to managing partner of its US operations. The firm also appointed Gareth Hayes as deputy managing partner for the US. Both are based in Chicago.

Keese succeeds Robert Henske, who will continue to serve as a member of the global supervisory board and as senior partner and head of the global chemicals practice.

“This is a period of tremendous growth and unlimited future potential for Roland Berger throughout the Americas,” Keese said. “Along with Gareth and our management team, we will continue to realize Roland Berger's regional and global growth strategy, deliver exceptional client service, and grow our team of currently more than 300 consulting professionals.”

Roland Berger expanded into the US market in 1998 with a Detroit office, afterwards opening a Chicago location in 2008 and a Boston location in 2012. The industrial and operations expert has further Americas offices in Toronto, Montreal, and Sao Paulo, and this month announced the opening of a Mexico City office.

Keese has been at Roland Berger since 2001 and currently leads the automotive and industrials practice in the Americas. He has deep expertise advising large companies on growth and market entry, sales and distribution, cost reduction, and restructuring. Earlier in his tenure at Roland Berger, he led the Latin American automotive practice based in Brazil.

Hayes has been at Roland Berger since 2009 and currently heads the capital goods practice in the Americas and the Chicago office. He specializes in corporate and operations strategy for manufacturers, with a focus on construction materials and building technology. Before joining Roland Berger, Hayes spent six years as a mechanical design engineer at Cummins Allison (now Crane Payment Innovations).

Roland Berger has 3,000 employees across 51 offices in the EMEA, Asia Pacific, and Americas regions. The firm primarily serves clients in automotive, chemicals, energy and utilities, and capital goods (including manufacturing and agriculture).
