Global management consulting firm Bain & Company has elected Christophe De Vusser to serve as the firm’s new Worldwide Managing Partner. The Belgian becomes the first European to lead Bain & Company in its 50-year history.

Currently the Head of its Private Equity practice for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Christophe De Vusser will step into the role effective July 1, 2024. He succeeds Manny Maceda, who is serving his second three-year term as Worldwide Managing Partner (or: CEO).

De Vusser has been with Bain & Company since 2000, climbing the ranks within the firm’s Brussels office to eventually become Managing Partner between 2012 and 2018. During this period, he helped double the business in Belgium.

In 2018, De Vusser was appointed to the global Board of Directors. Since then, he has led Bain & Company’s private equity client portfolio across the EMEA region, helping to more than double the practice’s business over the five-year period.

With an educational background in Civil Engineering and Business Communications (gained both from the University of Ghent), De Vusser specialises in topics including strategic growth, deals, sales and marketing strategy, business transformation, sustainability, and corporate turnaround programs.

Commenting on his election, De Vusser said:

“I’m honoured to be chosen by my peers and it’s a privilege to lead this world class consulting firm.”

Filling the shoes of outgoing Worldwide Managing Partner Manny Maceda will however not be an easy task. Since Maceda came into office, Bain & Company has seen its revenues swell annual revenues from a little over $3 billion in 2018 to about $6 billion last year. Growth was spearheaded by organic expansion, the growth of its digital advisory practice, and a streak of 20+ acquisitions.

According to Maceda himself, De Vusser is well up for the task at hand.

“I have had the pleasure of working closely with Christophe over many years. In his new role, he will maintain our ambition and lead continuing change to further improve our effectiveness, all with a focus on clients and results while further strengthening Bain’s differentiation as one of best places to work– and on leading Bain into the next chapters of its global success story.”
