Cognizant has acquired Japanese intelligent products and solutions firm Brilliant Service for an undisclosed sum. The addition sees a team of 70 join the firm, adding extensive technical and regulatory knowledge to the firm's presence in Japan.

Brilliant Service is a Japan-based intelligent products and solutions company that was founded in 2004. Services offered by the company are focused on creating engaging customer experiences, by among others, leveraging innovation in the connected business space, focused on smart device solutions. The firm has clients among some of the largest businesses in Japan, in the telecommunications, manufacturing, and consumer goods segments. The company employs around 70 people, and is located in Osaka.

The addition of the company to Cognizant, boosts the firm’s presence in the smart devices space – estimated by McKinsey to hold the potential to add $11.1 trillion to the global economy by 2025. The company will, outside of offering technical expertise, also add in-depth knowledge of Japanese regulatory requirements in the space to the firm. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
