Context

Challenge
A fast-growing boutique consultancy specialising in energy, infrastructure and mining was looking to appoint an Engagement Manager within its London advisory team. The role required a consultant with strong experience in infrastructure and asset advisory, alongside a proven ability to support investment decisions through commercial and financial analysis. The client was specifically seeking candidates with exposure to capital-intensive assets, including experience in due diligence, transaction advisory and performance improvement across infrastructure portfolios.
Solution
The successful candidate brought a strong background in infrastructure advisory, with experience leading technical, financial and commercial due diligence across large-scale transport assets. He has supported transactions exceeding £100m in value, including asset valuation, demand forecasting and investor advisory.
His experience includes leading lender advisory and due diligence assignments, developing investment-grade financial models and supporting clients through complex transaction processes. He also demonstrated a strong understanding of asset performance, risk management and the commercial drivers of infrastructure investments.
Outcome
During the interview process, the candidate demonstrated a clear alignment with the client’s focus on asset-led advisory and investment support. He successfully progressed through multiple stages and was offered a competitive compensation model. He had spent a long time at his current firm, and they were reluctant to let him go, but ultimately, the strong offer and the new opportunity meant he accepted the offer.
