A trio of Renovus Capital-owned legal sector consultancies – HBR Consulting, LAC Group, and Wilson Allen – have merged and rebranded as Harbor.

Private equity firm Renovus acquired LAC Group and Wilson Allen in July 2022, and then acquired the consulting division of Chicago-based HBR Consulting in November 2022.

Harbor also integrates Aurora North and Younts Consulting – legal tech applications and cloud migration consultancies that were acquired in early 2023 – and KP Labs, a business process automation and AI-focused contract intelligence specialist acquired in July.

The firm in May announced an executive team for the forthcoming combined entity.

Headquartered in Chicago, Harbor has more than 650 strategists, technologists, and specialists across offices in the US, Canada, and the UK. The legal specialist firm provides integrated, end-to-end solutions in strategy, legal technology, operations, and intelligence to law firms, corporations, and their law departments.

The combined entity serves more than 80% of Global 200 law firms and 50% of the Fortune 500.

Matt Sunderman, CEO of Harbor, says the new company is well-equipped to help legal sector clients tackle emerging business, economic, and technological challenges.

“The legal industry is facing a period of complex change. Business and economic challenges have made it imperative that law firms and law departments operate as efficiently as possible, while investing in future growth. Technological advances such as generative AI and a rapidly evolving landscape of cloud applications have also presented new challenges as well as opportunities to get ahead of the competition," Sunderman said. "Our new company, Harbor, is dedicated to helping our clients address these challenges and navigate to a future in which they thrive.”
