The Chartered Management Consultant Award has passed another major milestone, with the announcement that 2,000 professionals have now become accredited. Tamzen Isacsson, chief executive of the Management Consultancies Association, which co-created the award, said that the news provided “vital reassurance of quality to clients” of the consulting sector.

Also praising the “steadfast commitment to continuous training and development” of the sector, Isacsson added, “Congratulations to all those consultants who have helped us set the highest standards of excellence and professionalism in consulting by embracing ChMC.”

Since it was initially created by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) in 2017, the Chartered Management Consultant Award (ChMC) has gone from strength to strength. As firms recognise it as a differentiating mark of quality that can help assure current and future clients of their offering, thousands of consultants have commenced their journey to obtain chartered status – with the number of firms to have become ChMC accredited having risen to more than 40.

With the number of leading firms enlisting experienced professionals for the process still rising, the adoption of the ChMC as an industry standard continues to accelerate among individual staff. This has led the CMI and MCA to confirm that the number of consultants to become chartered has surpassed the 2,000 mark.

New milestone

Echoing Isacsson’s sentiments, Ann Francke, chief executive of the CMI, stated, "The ChMC Accreditation has proven to be a game-changer, not only in raising industry standards but also in inspiring a new wave of professionalism among consultants. The achievement of 2,000 ChMCs marks a significant moment, underscoring our commitment to delivering excellence in consultancy services and ensuring clients receive the highest expertise and value."

While the ChMC Accreditation serves as a quality assurance mark for consultancy services for professionals of all ages, for young consultants, achieving ChMC status has quickly become a coveted vocational endorsement that boosts their professional credibility. Reflecting this, the MCA also celebrates the achievements of its newest crop of ChMC graduates during its annual awards – having introduced a Chartered Management Consultant of the year category at its annual awards.

This year, the category will be contested by: Rich Day, AtkinsRéalis; Simon Christian, Grant Thornton; James Swaffield, IMPOWER; Lucy Pringle and Rosanna Ravey, both KPMG; and Kevin Clarke, Moorhouse Consulting. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in London in November.
