A strategy consulting firm in Germany was looking to grow its Performance Improvement capability as part of a wider DACH expansion. The priority was not just technical expertise but securing a senior hire who could build long-term client relationships and integrate smoothly with the firm’s culture. Strategic depth and leadership style were key.
Solution
We conducted a targeted market mapping, concentrating on senior candidates with a track record in performance transformation who were not actively exploring new roles. Among them, one Principal from a tier-one strategy firm emerged as a strong fit, bringing both credible client-facing experience and exceptional credentials. We collaborated closely with the candidate at each stage of the process, ensuring their narrative aligned with the firm's strategic priorities. Throughout, we maintained open lines of communication with both the candidate and client, helping to manage expectations and sustain momentum.
Results
There was early alignment between the candidate and the leadership team, particularly on values and culture. The candidate already held an offer from a competitor firm, so it was important to help him understand the comparison points for both organisations. We supported the client in their final offer negotiations, ensuring the package reflected market value while fitting the firm’s internal structure. After a short period of deliberation, the offer was accepted, with the candidate sighting that the culture of the firm tipped the balance in their favour.
